Most music – or U.K based rave dance music has originated from the presence of House / house music. The foundation which House itself built is untold. That classic Ibiza sound, setting trends far around the earth. This music started its own culture, the baleric islands being the settings for such inspirational sounds of the age. What’s not to like? Sun, sea and basslines!
The acid house scene took storm in the U.K – leading onto the production of many tracks, created, pressed up then played out to the raving masses. The golden eras which bloomed into the nineties, hosting many nights of great dance music all over the show.
This original sound of house was taken on, then expanded upon. The acid sound became slightly harder, slightly faster in comparison to the melodic beat of the house. It must be said that overseas – Stateside, that they also had their sound.

Their preferred musical glow of the times. This was also house based. A little further east, then you had the likes of a much faster pace music being requested. This subsequently developed into the techno sound of Europe. This soon expanded into the Trance sound plus fresh vocals coming out of many top tier producer’s studios to dazzle the masses of ravers around the world.
The U.K rave scene thrived from the mid-eighties all the way into the nineties. It really took the opportunity to develop, encompassing a well-favoured sound of a ‘dark and light combination’.

As most things tend to do in the course of the evolution process, it wasn’t long before the single concentrated sound soon divided into two separate genres in the U.K. This was the famous, or – infamous split which occurred sometime during the early nineties. Thus become a ‘Hardcore sound’. Also, a ‘Jungle sound’.
Many still endeavouring with the enjoyment factor, live in the mix each weekend. Or – as some choose to do, spin the slabs upon the mighty Technic Twelve tens!
We expanded on the legendary Dj Teej last time on behalf of Quantum Core. There are many other veterans of the musical scenes filed. Many a musical underground warrior, if not connesour to the sounds.
Believers of the bass, keepers of the underground sounds, these very people making sure the sound, the legacy of past lives on – strong, proud, ever thriving to the ears of the people.

Music is boundless, timeless within it’s infinite stricture of life. Bringing us all so much pleasure. Over the last Melenia we have seen the rise of digital music. Synthesiser music. Music which is produced via digital means. The process – especially now is very digital indeed.
Rave music, originating mainly from the Balearic House sound from Spain, Ibiza really took off in the late seventies or so. This subsequently grew into a much-loved scene of rave, which enabled everyday people to congregate, escape the hum – drum of the 95-work world, generally letting off steam and having a dam good time!
This scene came alive, absolutely thriving in the 90’s plus. Many raves were held up and down the U.K – from the South Coast to London, to fields, barns and warehouses alike – raves were staged all over. Hosting for the upfront party goer.
DJ Teej has always kept it real with his enthusiastic love for the music, love for the scene. Still remaining true DJ TEEJ – now plays on a regular basis. He can be heard playing all sorts of rave styles from Drum and Bass Jungle, through to the classic ‘Happy Hardcore sound’ we all grew to love and know so well!

Welcome RAF! Its a pleasure to talk to you today. Quantum Creations thanks you whole heartedly for your time and energy today.
You have recently played out at one of London’s FINEST Hardcore / multi genre rave events. You always bring amazing energy in all of your sets! Tell us about ‘The Pirate themed party‘ you have played at recently. How would you describe your selection?
DJ RAF: “The Pirate party was brilliant, they went all out on décor, everybody dressed up for it and the whole vibe of the place was just buzzing!”
“All of the artist’s and MC’s pulled it out the bag and the ravers made plenty of noise in appreciation of some quality tuneage! I played a very vocal and uplifting set as I knew I was warming it up for Breeze,
“I wanted to make sure the dancefloor was getting involved in the music so I knew that a few big classics mixed in with a few, more up to date, vocal bangers would get them right in the zone, and luckily it did!”
As mentioned above you are known across the board for playing both Hard House / Hard Dance as well as UK Hardcore. Tell the good people – how did you find your way into the dance music scene?
DJ RAF “Well it all started way back in ’98, I went to Peach at Camden Palace and had some of the best nights of my life! This is where my love for trance music was born, I went there every single Friday for about 3 years, then one night Lisa Pin Up was there and she did a special closing set where she dropped 9Bar by OD404, this was the first time I’d ever heard hard house and damn did I want to hear more!!”
“From there it all got a bit harder as I found Escape From Samara at the Fridgein Brixton, back when the whole place was decorated in U.V! The night was a pure journey through the harder side of dance music and everyone was dressed up in Cyberdograving gear.”

“This led on to countless other raves with numerous different crews over the years, from Frantic, Tasty, Logic and Hard House Heaven to Freeformation, Hardcore Heaven and Helter Skelter, I just had a passion for harder faster music!!”
“I was lucky enough to be part of the raving era where you could go out to a huge event like Frantic at SE1, queue for an hour to get in and just down the road there are 2 other massive Hard House / Hardcore raves going on, and each one of them were also full!”
What brands have really been standing out for you this year or so musically? (UK Hardcore & Hard Dance.)
You have played from the era of vinyl decks, you have adapted into the digital age of mixing! How was this for you, did you have any trouble in this integration?…
DJ RAF “To be honest CDJ’s are by far easier to play on, I remember the first time I used them I was playing at an event and they didn’t actually have a working pair of 1210’s! I thought I wouldn’t be able to play my set but Ajay said I could use his CD’s, I was apprehensive at first as I’d never touched a pair of CDJ’s but I soon got into the groove…..once you learn on a pair of belt drive turntables you can play on anything!”

Your message to any up and coming DJ’s – who are looking to make it in the scene:
DJ RAF “Be unique, but not weird, nobody likes weird! Tune selection is key, don’t just play a track because it sounds good in the mix, the chorus and drop are the main things to concentrate on.”
Do you produce music? Double question! – Who would you most like to work with as a DJ?…
DJ RAF “I’ve produced a couple of tracks so far, a New NRG / Hard House cross-breed done withSmyrky called Cry Baby which is out on my Digital Label –Disruptiv Traxx
and also a track I did a long time ago with my brother called Kooshtee which is completely inspired by the film Human Traffic.”
“I am currently re-making this track with Phil Reynolds giving it a Hard Trance twist and also a new Hard House version with Smyrky both of which should be finished sometime soon.”
